Since 1983, I have represented citizens accused of a wide variety of criminal offenses in state and federal court in Austin, Texas and the surrounding communities-Bastrop, Williamson and Hays counties. I am a former felony prosecutor with trial experience ranging from murder and aggravated robbery to driving while intoxicated and environmental crimes. The Texas Board of Legal Specialization has certified me as a criminal law specialist since 1985. My professional background includes representing inmates of the Texas prison system in their post-conviction appeals before state and federal district courts, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. Martindale-Hubble, the national law directory and rating service has given me it's highest "AV" rating based upon the evaluations of local lawyers and judges. In 2005, Texas Monthly magazine identified me as a Texas Super Lawyer. The magazine recognizes the top 5% of attorneys in each field of practice in Texas as chosen by peers and independent research.
